Junior's Racing
Hi, my name is LUCA. Welcome to my web page where I will keep everybody updated on whats been happening in my rookie year.
Season 07-08
Practice Day Tamworth 29 June. Finally got to have a drive of Dads 600. Absolutley loved driving it. They are so much better to drive than a peaky two-stroke . Dad wasn't very impressed when I put a conrod out through the bottom, but isn't that what kids are for (Chase!).
Nowra Rd 7 Tri-Steel Series. Just couldn't get it right until the final, started out of P2 and got off to my best start ever. I lead until getting caught up in Kenny's spin. Back to the restart and on lap two got caught up in other drivers problems and ended my night upside down at the end of the main straight. Finished the pointscore in 5th place.
Tamworth Rd6 Tri-Steel Series So far my best night of driving this season. Scored 102 points on the night and outscored Dad again, I'm sitting in 5th spot with one round to go at Nowra. After Dads disaster at Tamworth i"m only 24 points behind him,so look out.
Australian Championships Lismore. My little Rotax went like a dream all weekend and I finished all of my heats and finals, I felt this was my best F500 experience so far. Thanks to Dad and Uncle Greg for making it all happen for me on the weekend.
Goulburn Rd 5 Tri-Steel Series. After Dad crashed out in heat 1 I was able to outscore him for the second time this season. After we got home on Sunday Dad & I did some promotional work at the Tamworth Show which included some demo laps on the 1/2 Mile Track, gee it was great fun on such a big track.
N.S.W. Titles at Gunnedah. I thought Terry Kershaw was pulling my leg when he said I was off the front row in my first heat, Matt Brown on Pole,me in 2, and Steve Caunt right behind me, the pressure was on. At the start I didn't get away real well but all the drivers gave me room and I could finally breath out. After all my heats, my crew finally had my brakes fixed and I was really looking foward to the feature but the track power failed and it was cancelled. Next week Dad and I are off to Goulburn for the State Pointscore.
Southcoast Championships at Nowra. This was my 3rd trip to Nowra but my first as a driver, It is a great track with really good lighting. My heats were pretty steady with a flat right rear in heat 2 (still finished) the final was probably the best I have driven my car. I finished 7th and I'm rapped with that.
Rd 3 Tri-Steel pointscore at Gilgandra.Ht1 I managed to finish with some very handy points, Ht2 however was a bit different as the newly rebuilt Rotax bled to death through a faulty water pump housing and that was the end of my night. My Uncle Rod that builds my motors is being tryed for his patience with these failures that have come from poor workmanship done previously, he seems to have gotten rid of many of the bugs but some surprises still pop up.
Rd 2 Tri-Steel pointscore at Gunnedah. I think I might have taken things a bit to easy during the heats but I finally got up to speed in the Final and ended up 6th. I'm pretty happy with my points haul for the night as I outscored Dad
Cullen Bullen. A great night of club racing, I took things easy during the heats and final, having great fun on the fantastic surface building my confidence up after my disasters at Grafton. The night went past so quickly we were offered a 5th heat, a handicap start was all I needed to get myself into gear and they were never going tio catch me. I had a great night, thanks to the Portland Club, Murray Johnson for organising us and Dad for crewing for me on the night.
Rd 1 Tri-Steel pointscore at Grafton. Heat 1 I took things slowly to get a feel for the track and finished in 9th. Heat 2, I got caught up with fellow rockie Darren Writer when his motor died and I rolled it in turn 1. Back in the pits both my pit crew (uncle Greg and Rod) got the car ready for heat 3 only to find out that the clutch cable had been damaged in the rollover. We replaced the cable and started the Final from the rear of field, with 4 laps to go I got it loose in turn 1 and put it into the wall back first and rolled it again. No damage to me but my car is a bit sick, what a start to the season. Can't wait for Gunnedah in November.
